Concept Statement
Double Trouble tells a charming farcical story about two brothers trying to make it in 1940s Hollywood with the help … and sometimes hindrance … of a colorful cast of characters. The chaotic individuals of DT are absurd and transformative with quirks that make them unique to the audience and something that could only exist in the hijinks of this world. The costumes will highlight the absurd and hilarious characteristics of each individual by creating defining silhouettes and color blocking that help distinguish the specified buffoonery of each character.

RENDERINGS
Color pencil drawings filtered in Photoshop to resemble an old movie poster.
One of the biggest challenges to solve in Double Trouble is that 2 Actors transition very quickly between 9 different characters. In thinking about how to render this show I didn’t want to ignore the fact that it is the same person playing several characters and adopted a “paper doll” method. This helped me figure out how these transitions can feasibly happen –while still creating defined farce-worthy “looks” for each character.
