Concept Statement
Caridad Svich's Red Bike is a story about the industrialization of middle-class America through the lens of an 11-year-old child. Jumping through fifty short moments in time the text creates a sense of loss hidden by the veil of childhood innocence. I wanted to create an environment that captures the mindscape of the child whose world is changing during a time they don't really understand, but will soon come to know all too well as their new reality.
