R&H Cinderella

Concept Statement
Cinderella tells a story of self-discovery by embracing the nature of both physical and figurative transformation. The world Ella lives in feels both whimsical and fragmented. Therefore the costumes will create a storybook-esque portrayal of her reality through group colors-blocking, contrasting textures, and movement.

RESEARCH, COLOR PALETTE, AND INITIAL SKETCHES
Figurative Research: Defining the World

Color Palette: Visual Representation of Class Divisions

Lower Class: Research and Initial Renderings

Simpler silhouettes with ragged edges. Utilizing beige/neutral tones that can be lit differently for different moments in the show.
Upper Class/Royal Guard: Research and Initial Renderings

Fuller-figured garment shapes fall into brighter (more expensive) colors. Embracing the absurdity of Upper-Class Fashion.
The Steps: Research and Initial Renderings
Fall into similar silhouettes and figures of upper-class women. Patterning and colors are gaudy and tacky. Think "New Money".
Whispy outfits. Magic highlights the areas of society that Cinderella longs for and offers a heightened reality of her fantasy.

HAIR AND MAKEUP
Hair and Make-up: Embracing the storybook

Defining the child-like romanticism of a fairy tale by using chiffon or tulle to create fantasy hair. The shape, texture, and color of the headpieces can help define class and social standing.
Fox Footman, Racoon Driver, and Fairy Godmother
